Can somebody explain what social media really means?
Posted on August 3, 2009 by Browser Media
We have just found a superb presentation on social media that we wanted to share.
We can’t take any credit for the slideshow, which goes to Marta Kagan, but hope that you find it as interesting as we do.
It is a follow up to last year’s ‘What the F**k is Social Media’ and manages to summarise the key opportunities that exist with social networking extremely well – there is a lot of noise out there but this is one of the rare examples where some clear messages leap out from the noise.
Some key highlights / favourites or ours in case you don’t view every slide:
- If Facebook were a country, it would be the 8th most populated in the world, just ahead of Japan.
- It’s supposed to be a dialogue, not a monologue.
- Stop thinking "campaigns". Start thinking "conversations".
- Don’t assume social media is the answer to everything. If your product sucks, social media won’t fix it.
Enjoy!
