Tablets rocking the mobile world (again)

Posted on by Joe Friedlein

I have just been reading a post on econsultancy that discusses the need to ensure that your website works well on tablets. A standout stat that hits you early on in the article is that 82% of mobile purchases are made on the iPad in the UK. The post justifiably goes on to state how mobile marketing should really be focused on tablets (the iPad in particular) if you are…

Negative SEO or Google just getting it (painfully) wrong?

Posted on by Joe Friedlein

If you have ever spoken to anyone at Browser Media, you will know that we are obsessed with approaching SEO in an ethical manner. We have always championed Google's cause and supported the notion that 'good' SEO is all about creating excellent content / functionality and then sharing such excellence with the wider world. Over the years, we have refused to take on projects where (potential) clients have demanded the…

2012 – the year of mobile?

Posted on by Joe Friedlein

If you are anything like me, you will have greeted the subject of this post with a huge yawn and an overiding sense of 'here we go again…' I am passionate about online marketing and will often evangelise about emerging technology, but I have been hearing the fuss about mobile for a number of years and have become bored of hearing every year being touted as THE year of mobile….

Getting naked – is it a northern thing?

Posted on by Joe Friedlein

Our regular readers will know that this is the time of the year for the latest instalment in the Digital Ski chronicles. Lucky me (Joe) recently returned from a fantastic trip in Courchevel, where the snow was epic, the weather was mixed and there was a lot of nakedness. Econsultancy's annual Digital Ski trip is an informal networking event for the crème de la crème of the UK's digital marketing…

What do we have to do to get you to speak to us?!

Posted on by Joe Friedlein

I have just been doing a little bit of Google Analytics analysis (that rolls of the tongue…) on the www.browsermedia.co.uk domain and wanted to share something that made me laugh.  I was good and was honoured my new year's resolution of only using the new Google Analytics interface – if I had a pound for each time I have heard someone moaning about the new interface, the mountain chalet would…

We welcome Graham Ruddick on board

Posted on by Joe Friedlein

I am extremely pleased to officially announce the appointment of Graham Ruddick as a non-executive director of Browser Media. I have known Graham for a couple of years, having initially met on one of the legendary digital ski trips and he has been involved with Browser Media in a less official capacity over the past year, so it is fantastic to welcome him on board at an exciting time for…

Tut Tut Orange – who manages your PPC ads?

Posted on by Joe Friedlein

I am a bit of a geek in many ways, but gadgets and phones are definitely one of my weaknesses and I go through them like toad of Toad Hall goes through hobbies. As an Android man, the ability to go through phones is made even easier as there is always a new handset to drool over and convince yourself that you actually need (which, of course, you do not)….

Google unleashes best example yet of double standards?

Posted on by Joe Friedlein

Anyone involved with SEO will have no doubt seen the announcement that Google is "enhancing our default search experience for signed-in users". There has been a strong reaction to the news and I can see why. What does the change actually mean? In a nutshell, it means that Google will start encrypting searches and (more importantly) outbound clicks by default. You can read more at a new help page. At…

An interesting experiment

Posted on by Joe Friedlein

Are you a member of Econsultancy? If not, you should be (it is excellent!). If you are, you may well have just received an email promoting the new FREE internet marketing strategy report. We haven't actually read the briefing yet, but are interested by the polite request to participate in some content marketing. Content is king and we often bang the drum for focusing on content above everything else, so…
